Letture animate: Zelig, il piccolo leone. / Dramatic Readings: Zelig, the tiny lion

In questo periodo sono stata molto impegnata per la preparazione di tre letture animate, tutte da presentare in una scuola primaria: una per le classi prime, una per le classi seconde, una per le terze, benché avessi deciso di dedicarmi solo alle classi prime.

Sono comunque riusciti a coinvolgermi nelle altre due come lettrice, e quat'anno andrà così.

La prima lettura è stata fatta venerdì scorso, devo dire con un discreto successo: i 120 bambini che hanno a turno assistito alla lettura sono stati contenti, e mi sembra che anche le maestre abbiano apprezzato.

Il libro che è stato scelto è Zelig, il piccolo Leone di Fabrizio Silei.

Un libro che tratta in modo leggero, abbastanza divertente il tema della diversità: il leone è davvero piccolo, molto piccolo: potrebbe entrare nella tasca di una giacca. E, non bastasse la dimensione, ha la caratteristica di cambiare colore e aspetto a seconda degli animali con i quali si trova a contatto.

In realtà quello che sembra un difetto è un grande pregio: Zelig entra in empatia con chi incontra, si mette letteralmente nei suoi panni, cercando di comprenderlo e di capire come sia la sua vita.
Però per il resto della foresta è motivo di sberleffo e, per il padre, grande leone, re della foresta, è motivo di vergogna e dispiacere.
E Zelig, chiedendosi come mai non riesca a capire il padre, va all'avventura, cercando se stesso e il leone che è in lui. In questo suo viaggio incontra molti animali, e capisce che, indipendentemente dalla dimensione, ogni animale teme qualcosa o qualcuno e che la paura è uguale per tutti. Non solo, incontra degli uomini feroci e, per salvare gli animali della foresta, assume quel ruolo che suo padre tanto temeva che non sarebbe riuscito a svolgere mai: quello del leader di tutti gli animali.

E mentre parla con suo padre, Zelig finalmente riesce a comprendere anche lui, e pian piano si trasforma nel leone che avrebbe dovuto essere fin dall'inizio.

La storia è stata scelta proprio perché presenta il tema della diversità e dello scherno che tanto feriscono i bimbi di questa età, e fa loro capire che quello che ad altri sembra un difetto potrebbe essere un gran pregio.

L'animazione è stata fatta a voce e con l'ausilio di alcune musiche classiche ed altre africane, inoltre con l'uso di qualche supporto morbido, come peluche e cappelli a forma di animale.





Recently I've been very busy preparing three dramatic readings, all of which to be performed in a primary school: one for the first grade, one for the second and one for the third. I had decided that this year I'd be involved only in that for the first grade, and in the end I'm busier with dramatic readings than in the previous years.

So I'll be .the reader in the three readings.

The first one was performed last Friday and I must say we had quite a success: the 120 children who, in turns, were our audience, have been very happy and I think the teachers appreciated the performance, too.

The book we had chosen was Zelig, il piccolo Leone written by Fabrizio Silei.

A book that portrays in a light and funny way the heme of diversity: Zelig, the lion, is really tiny, it could fit into a jacket's pocket. And if that were not enough, it's got the characteristic to be able to change in shape and colour according to the animals with which it gets in touch.

As a matter of fact what seems to be a weakness is a great strength: Zelig is empathic with those it meets, it literally wears their shoes, trying to understand them and to feel like they feel in their lives.

But for the other animals in the forset that's a reason to tease him and his dad, the king of the forest, who's desperate for his son and the fact that it doesn't look like nor behave like a future king of the forest.

And Zelig, wondering why he cannot understand, of all the animals, his own father, decides to leave ang go for adventures on its own, trying to find himself and the lion in him.
In his journey he meets many animals and he understands that, independently from the dimension of the single animal, everyone fears something or somebody and that fear is the same for everybody. Not only that, he meets some horrible human beings and to save the animals of the forest
he takes on that role that his father feared he'd never be able to perform: the of the king of all animals.
 And while he's talking to his father, Zelig finally is able to understand aven him and little by little becomes the lion he should've been from the beginning.

The story was chosen right because it handles the theme of diversity and teasing that such importance has for children this age, as it frequently hurts them, and makes them understand that what looks like a weakness may become, in reality, a strength.


Dramatization was made through the use of the voice, some classical and African musics and with the help of some soft helps: plush animals and hats like animal masks.
