E poi è poco sano.
E poi è poco dietetico.
French fries? Ok, But I don't fancy frying. I don't fancy it because when you fry something, all of the flat stinks, and having a large open space in the day area and glass panels sliding doors dividing the night area, when I say all of the flat, I mean ALL OF IT, because the smell goes everywhere.
Plus it not really healthy.
Plus it's not ok, thinking about weight control.
But if when they were really young my children didn't eat any French fries (having tried to give them some after they were three, obviously) not even if tortured, not even in the famous fast food chains, just as they didn't eat pizza (I know, they're quite strange) and one of them doesn't even try a sip of any type of soft drink (the other one when he can tries a little bit of Coke), now they've become nearer to normal children and even though they're alien children, they like French fries.
Therefore sometimes we try and cook French fries.
So we decided we'd give it a try and at first we bought and tried the fries that are frozen and supposed to be prepared in the oven. Not bad, really, but then we read the ingredients and got frightened, became horrified, and decided we'd REALLY give it a try and find our way.
Ingredienti/Ingredients:
olio e.v.o.
acqua
Potatoes (a good type sound for frying)
salt
paprika if you like it
extra vergin olive oil
water
Procedimento/How to do it:
Metterle a bagno in acqua e lasciare che l'acqua intorbidisca (così perdono parte del loro amido e diventano più croccanti).Peel the potatoes and cut them in long stripes, all similar in size, about half centimeter thick and tall. Put them in a large bowl full of water and let them sit until water turns whitish (in this way they'll lose part of their starch and become crispier)
Drain them, dry them and put them in a large bowl: add 1 tablespoon oil, salt, and if you like it paprika. Mix them very well, distribute them on a baking pan prepared with wax paper being careful not to pile them up.
E buon appetito!
Put them in a pre heated oven (220-240°C) for about 20'. If they're crispy, they're ready, if they're not, cook them for some more minutes.
Enjoy!
