Una serata fra ragazze: addio al nubilato / An girls' evening out: a hen party

Qualche giorno fa (pochissimo prima del mio secondo incidente estivo che non me lo avrebbe permesso...) abbiamo festeggiato l'addio al nubilato di una cara amica, nonché mia cognata.

A few days ago (a bit before my second summer accident that would have prevented me from doing it) we held a hen party for a good friend of mine, who also happens to be my sister in law.
 
Per farle una sorpresa, speravamo gradita, abbiamo prenotato in un hammam: l'Hammam della Rosa di Milano, che organizza anche percorsi ad hoc per amiche e nubenda, con un trattamento speciale riservato alla futura sposa.

We thought we had had a good idea for the hen party organising a late afternoon at a Hammam, and we booked at the Hammam della Rosa in Milan which organises special gift packages for brides to be and their friends, with a special treatment for the bride to be.

Siamo riuscite a tenerle nascosta sia l'organizzazione della festa, sia la destinazione finale, così la sorpresa è riuscita benissimo.

We managed to keep the secret both about the fact that we had organised a party (she didn't have a clue before we made a lot of noise under her balcony) and on the final destination until we reached it, therefore it was a total surprise for her. Not to mention the fact that she had to walk all over the place and in Milan wearing a lilac wig, a very long one....
 
E l'Hammam della Rosa è stata una piacevole scoperta: sono già stata in luoghi simili, anche con percorsi più complessi, molto belli, molto rilassanti e silenziosi, ma questo hammam di speciale ha che è intimo, piccolo, perciò ci si sta in pochi, e questo lo impreziosisce ai miei occhi.

And the Hammam della Rosa was a very pleasant discovery: I've already been to such places, spas and hammams, even with more complex packages, very nice indeed, very relaxing and silent, but this hammam is special in the fact that it is very small, intimate, therefore there are very few people at a time, and this makes it more precious to me.

Il percorso inizia con una stanza rilassante e tiepida, non esageratamente umida, il tepidarium, dove ci si ferma amabilmente a chiacchierare e ad ambientarsi in termini di temperature, e dove si hanno a disposizione brocche di tè caldo per rinfrescarsi.

The treatment starts in the Tepidarium a relaxing and warm room, not exaggeratedly humid, where you can stop as long as you please chatting with your friends and trying to get used to the new, warm temperature, and where there are plenty of kettles full of hot tea to refill the lost liquids. The skin starts to open its pours

Prosegue con l'applicazione di sapone nero all'argilla, più o meno come questo

un prodotto dell'hammam stesso, con cui ci si spalma ovunque tranne il viso, per poi entrare nel calidarium a sudare per benino, così da eliminare le tossine e da far agire meglio il sapone oleoso sulla pelle. Si alterna così calidarium e tepidarium per un certo numero di volte, rinfrescandosi con del tè caldo nel tepidarium. A questo punto, a due alla volta, si viene condotte in una saletta appartata dove, sdraiate su un tavolo di marmo, si viene strofinate da capo a piedi (escluso il viso) con un guanto di crine, viene fatto lo shampoo e poi si viene sciacquate con un getto d'acqua fresca. Dopo questo trattamento rinvigorente e purificante si viene coccolate con una sorta di massaggio schiumoso. Se è il caso, come nel mio caso, in cui i capelli erano molto secchi, viene applicata una maschera ai capelli.

Following the relaxation time in the Tepidarium, black oily soap, a product by the Hammam della Rosa, is applied to your body enabling your skin to exfoliate. "Wearing" this soap you then enter the Calidarium, a very warm and humid room where you sweat a lot and eliminate all the toxins in the body and the dead cells on the skin. You can alternate Tepidarium and Calidarium a number of times, drinking hot tea to replenish the lost liquids in the Tepidarium. At this point two at a time the girls are lead into separate rooms whaere, lying on a marble table, they're brushed from neck to toe, a shampoo is applied to the hair and they're splashed with fresh water. After this purifying and reinvigorating treatment, they're pampered with a sort of foamy massage. If it's necessary, like in my case, since I had very dry hair, a nourishing mask is applied to the hair.

Si passa allora alla doccia per un risciacquo approfondito, poi i capelli vengono avvolti in un asciugamano e ci si accomoda nella vasca a idromassaggio, che è quasi fredda rispetto al resto dell'ambiente. Infine si passa alla stanza relax, dove ci si rilassa nella penombra o su tappeti e cuscini, o su sdraio, e ci si spalma di olio di mandorle il corpo e di crema al latte d'asina il viso, gustandosi dolcetti arabi e tè caldo. E chiacchierando con le amiche. Intanto la nubenda era stata portata a fare un trattamento special: la maschera per il viso.

After all this, one goes to take a shower for washing off the soap better, then the hair is wrapped in a towel and one goes to the bubbling spa, which is quite cold if compared to the other environments. In the end the group of girls moves to the relaxing room, where they can relax chatting in the twilight on carpets or cushions or on deck chairs, and putting almond oil on the body and donkey milk cream on the face, tasting Arabic sweets and drinking tea, while chatting with the friends.

E alla fine tutte "chiacchierate", rilassate, con una pelle da fare invidia, siamo uscite a mangiarci un'enorme coppa gelato! Enorme a dire poco...e fra ricordi imbarazzanti per la futura sposa, racconti di episodi della sua infanzia e giovinezza, abbiamo tirato le 2 a.m.! Un'esperienza da ripetere, vero ragazze? Nonostante i figli che ci sono e che verranno...ogni tanto fa bene prendersi del tempo per sé, con le amiche, concedersi una vera e propria coccola!

And in the end, having chatted for a long time, being very relaxed, with a skin that looks better than that of a newborn, we went out for a huge cup of ice cream! Huge is the least we can say...a talking about embarassing episodes in the life of the bride to be, we got to 2 a.m.! An experience we should do again, isn't that true girls? In spite of the children already here and that may arrive in the future, sometimes it's good to take time for oneself and one's friends, giving ourselves a little bit of pampering: we really deserve it!
